Ontario’s Ultimate Block Party is being organized by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), which represents 76,000 teachers and education professionals across the province.
ETFO continues to be a leading advocate for early learning and the science of play. The Federation has developed a significant body of professional learning that is relevant, practical, and current, and meant to assist educators in developing and implementing play-based curriculum in Ontario elementary public school classrooms.
The Ontario Block Party event has been modelled after the first Ultimate Block Party which took place on October 2010 in New York’s Central Park. It was organized by Play for Tomorrow, a non-profit organization founded and designed by a coalition of leading educators, scientists and cultural leaders to put play at the forefront of children’s lives as a critical factor in the development of 21st century skills.
