Bandshell Lineup

Music is sometimes called “the universal language”. Along with contributing to the building of interpersonal relationships, play and music are important for the development of children’s mental capacity and intellect, and they form the basis of language building. Singing games such as counting rope jumps can help a small child to learn mathematical skills. Play and music create an imaginary world in which a child can master a myriad of skills stimulate their creativity.

11:00 am – 11:40 am: Turkey Rhubarb

TURKEY Rhubarb is Dale Behnke (mandolin), Gerry Dion (guitar) and Paul Fralick (guitar). They sing in English, French and Spanish; and perform traditional children’s songs from North America, Mexico, Antigua, England, Scotland and Ireland. 12:00 noon – 12:40 pm: Chris McKhool (Prologue)

12:45 pm – 12:55 pm: Million Ways to Move (TVOKids)

Join TVOKids hosts Kara, Drew and Dalmar as they debut their new Million Ways To Move Song and demonstrate a few cool dance moves. The TVOkids hosts can be seen on The Space, Canada’s only live after-school program block, weekdays from 3 pm – 7 pm.

 

 

1:00 pm – 1:40 pm: Sheesham and Lotus (Prologue)

What if you could only use your hands, feet, voices, spoons, sticks, washboards, old string, or wire to make music and dance? Sheesham & Lotus (Teilhard Frost and Sam Allison) make music and merriment the way people did when instruments were scarce and mass media unheard of. Jack Grunsky’s unique performances incorporate various cultures, rhythms, melodies and instrumentation. His storytelling has children laughing out loud as they sing along, breathe in the suspense, and act out the misadventures. The Monkey Bunch are comic genius Shoshana Sperling, musician/songwriter Maury LaFoy and their musical friends.
