Partners

The goal of The Ultimate Block Party is to make evident the research connection between play-based learning and brain function. The Play Centres presented by education partners will encourage children to engage in higher level thinking while creating a climate of joyful, playful learning. A number of “Play Doctors” dressed in lab coats, along with teacher and early childhood educator play experts, will circulate throughout the park to talk to parents about the value of play and answer their questions.

Each centre will have signage featuring the partner and a description of the play-based activity. The event and its activities will be eco- friendly. Modelled after the successful New York  Ultimate Block Party, the play centres are designed to: Be engaging, hands-on and interactive; demonstrate play-based learning; be open-ended in terms of activity e.g. exploratory, not necessarily leading to a finished product; appeal to diverse learners in terms of gender, age, ability etc; make use of found materials if possible; and link to curriculum.
