Once upon a time we learned what we needed to know from stories. Storytelling happened without the use of television, computers, radios, or books: it was just a storyteller and a group of listeners, captivated by the tale.
At the Ultimate Block Party wonderful storytellers will capture your imagination.
11:00 am – 12:10 pm: Carol Ashton and Sally Jaeger
Carol Ashton is an early childhood educator, musician and a member of Mariposa in the Schools and the Canadian Association of Storytellers for Children. Together Carol and Wendy Tinkler have delighted young children in schools with their tunes, compositions, and traditional stories.
Sally Jaeger’s storytelling for little ones includes rhymes, finger plays, songs, stories, games, and riddles. Sally is a long time member of Mariposa in the Schools and the Canadian Association of Storytellers for Children.
12:30 – 1:10 pm: Nathalie Vachon
Nathalie her whimsical and imaginative tales delight audiences of all ages. Her stories enchant, taking you on a journey full of vibrant images, wisdom, and witty wordplay.
1:30 – 2:10 pm: Bob Barton
A lifelong educator, Bob Barton believes storytelling is a basic building block in the development of literacy. Sharing stories strengthens everything children do in school: it makes them better listeners, improves their concentration skills, and gives them a sense of belonging.

2:30 – 3:10 pm: Rukhsana Khan
Storyteller Rukhsana Khan (pronounced ruk-SA-na kon) grew up in Dundas, Ontario. Her stories prompt cross-cultural understanding by re-telling the true life experiences that inspired her published works.
3:30 – 4:10 pm: Shannon Thunderbird
Shannon Thunderbird, a First Nations performer and storyteller, weaves mesmerizing stories, myths, song-writing, and drumming together to create a truly unique and interactive experience.
